Dr Steven Mahan, Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Dr Steven Mahan completed his BSc (Hons) Psychology at the University of Plymouth with first class honours. He then completed his MSc in Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol, and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter. Dr Mahan has professional experience in many varied areas of Clinical Psychology, including experience in the fields of: Adult and Child Neuropsychology, Head Injury Therapy, Weight Management, Health Psychology, Adult Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities.
Dr Mahan provides psychological therapy in the Chelsea and Liverpool Street areas in London. His clinic locations are available upon enquiry.

Within the NHS, Dr Mahan works as a Clinical Psychologist within a rehabilitation service for patients with neurological conditions, including those who have survived a traumatic brain injury, have a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis or epilepsy, or who have experienced a stroke. He supports patients and their families to adjust to their injuries and condition. He also has extensive experience within a weight management service, supporting patients to better understand their relationship with food and eating, to be able to achieve and maintain lifelong weight loss without the need for commercial diets.
In addition to leading State of Mind Psychology Services, Steven also works with The Chelsea Psychology Clinic, which is one of the leading private psychological therapy services in London.
Dr Mahan has a special interest in long-term, complex health conditions, medically unexplained symptoms and their associated mental health difficulties. He also has a special interest in working with those with relationship difficulties and those struggling to come to terms with a sudden and unexpected life event. Dr Mahan is trained in multiple models of evidence-based psychological therapy. He is trained in several specialist approaches, including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, couple’s and family therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.
